Board membership includes four members who are licensed, practicing marriage and family therapists, each of whom shall for at least five years immediately preceding appointment, have been actively engaged as a marriage and family therapist; one member must be engaged in the professional teaching and research of marriage and family therapy; and two members representing the general public who have no direct affiliation with the practice of marriage and family therapy. All members must have been a resident of the state for two years preceding their appointment.
